News From The School Nurse

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to Phillips for the 23/24 SY. I am excited to serve as your nurse for the 23/24 SY.  In order to start the year off smoothly I need to share a few bits of information with you.

I.  If your child is sick the night before school, in consideration of the health and wellbeing  of the other students and staff, please keep your child home the next day.
II.  Should your child become sick or injured during the school day you will be contacted by  the nurse. If during the course of this contact you are asked to pick your child up, it is  important that you or a designated adult pick up your child immediately.  A.  Your child will only be allowed to remain in the clinic for 15 minutes while waiting  for someone to pick them up. Please be aware that there are several children  who come to the clinic throughout the day for various reasons. Therefore, it is  very important that you honor the request to have your child picked up during the  time mentioned above.
III.  As per Hampton City School policy, if your child has a temperature of 100.4 or greater,  he/she will need to be picked up and will need to be fever free for 24 hours before  returning to school.
IV.  If your child is vomiting in the classroom or has diarrhea your child will be required to go  home.
V.  Should the nurse determine that your child does not need medical attention, he/she will  be sent back to their prospective classroom.
VI.  If your child takes prescribed medication, an order from the doctor must be received,  along with the medication showing the child’s name on all the packaging.  Please  provide a doctor’s orders describing the dosage and time of administration to the nurse.  Please do not leave medication in the office or send it to school with the child, or give it  to the teacher.
VII.  If your child has medication to be kept on their person, a note from their physician is  required to do so. Otherwise, he/she is not permitted to carry any medication outside of  what is on record with the nurse in the clinic.  Thank you in advance for your assistance and adherence to the above policies and  expectations.
